Whittled Whimsey #8
Signed and dated PR Drumm 2002
Old chair leg, Maple?

This 18" Whittled Whimsey #8 has no less than six examples of toggle joints. It has a faintly suggestive Southwest Original American look about it if you discount the four-breasted torso right from old Hindu goddess mythology. Definitely a whimsical combination. See the rotating ring like a hula-hoop from modern times. The "feet" (three of them!) pound a 10-barred cage "drum" atop an obliquely barred cage. Chain links connect to a toggle that travels both up and down, and 180 degrees side-to-side, enabled by ball-in-unique-cage design. This connects to yet another toggle, its ball in a six-bar cage. The foot of the former chair leg is the last toggle you find in WW#8.
